Margot Antonelli
“When you’re in a dark place, you sometimes tend to think you’ve been buried. Perhaps you’ve been planted. Bloom."
Describe Your Teaching Style: My classes are a physical manifestation of my entire heart and soul. I offer a lot of freedom to move in a way that feels good to you and emphasize listening to your body. But also pushing yourself to find your edge and leaning into that. I work to promote an understanding that the physical practice of yoga isn’t necessarily for feeling good or bad, just feeling more. And I never miss an opportunity to tell a funny story or crack a bad joke.
I also always offer an invitation for connection after class (which Kat describes as me soliciting for friendship).
What Brought You to Your Mat: When I was in the 5th grade, my parents signed me up for children’s yoga classes in my neighborhood. What started as an attempt to get me off their hands one night a week, led me to a life changing practice.
I was on and off my mat for many years after. However, I really found my practice years later at a studio in Ann Arbor, Michigan while I was in school there. I randomly took a free class and fell even more deeply in love with the practice: the opportunity for healing and growth it offers and the amazing community it creates.
The following summer, I found myself at Soulfire Rehoboth and the rest is history.
Where Can We Find You When You’re Not On Your Mat: Listening to live music around DC, having sunset picnics at Gravelly Point or sitting on my couch watching trash reality tv with friends.

Any Nicknames: I’ve always wanted to be one of those cool people who go by their last name but Antonelli doesn’t really work. Most of my friends call me Margs, but I’ve been working on a more solid nickname for years. So if anyone has any ideas, let me know.
Must Read Book: The Four Agreements (changed my life) but also a sucker for beach reads (Colleen Hoover anyone?)
